Sleep on it – Every Night!

I am sure you have heard people say they want “to sleep on it” when referring to decisions they need to make. This allows them to mull over the options (and doubt their conclusions all they want). However, it also lets the subconscious work on the issue. The subconscious has access to vastly more information than the conscious mind.
I have experienced this recently with some major decisions, such as college. I intended to spend a lot of time finding out more information to make a very informed choice, but I didn’t spend very much time. However, just a few days later I seem to have come painlessly to a decision. I can’t really justify how “correct” the conclusion is, but it feels right.
I suppose all of the choices that we are struggling with have pros and cons that are very comparable, or we wouldn’t have much to consider. We might realize that we can’t tell which is better, but we are uncomfortable choosing an option. If you have reached this point, making any decision would be better than just sitting on it. The subconscious can often decide, or at least justify, one choice for us.
Regardless of how it works, this is an amazing technique. I suggest you keep a list of things that bother you - decisions you need to make, things you can’t figure out, or things you can’t remember. Find an entry that currently bothers you before you go to sleep. Ask your mind to give you an answer in the morning.
Just try not to let it keep you from falling asleep!
