When I get something new, it’s usually cool. If it very much catches my attention, I will spend hours playing
with it and try to use it for everything. Yes, I generally go nuts with it! I recall a few things specifically - TiddlyWiki for GTD and more often, having a certain viewpoint or insight. New things just seem to change, dramatically, how I look at the world - everything is in light of the new thing. I really go overboard.
After a few days or maybe weeks, it is all but forgotten and things go back to normal.
Well, almost normal. The new tool or principle is now lodged into my habits and thinking. It is no longer as pervasive, but it’s there to aid me in everything else.
If you try to use something without this type of focus, then you are trying to force other things to work with the new item, as opposed to naturally seeing everything through the “eyes” of the new item.
Get involved with something new and see how it changes your world!
