When you depend on external things - other people or situations - to bring you happiness, you are just setting yourself up for misery. Insults or criticism will make you feel bad. Being around unhappy people will deepen your unhappiness. Traffic and other annoyances will upset or stress you out. Relying on circumstances to make you happy is futile.
Happiness isn’t out there - its exists only inside you head. Anything that happens is just a fact. How you react to it - that’s based on your attitude. Your attitude causes your emotions. The great news is that you can change your attitude! You don’t need to rely on anything external for meaning or happiness in life.
Take responsibility: Start thinking about the solution instead of dwelling on the problem. Ask yourself often what you feel grateful for. When you brighten your attitude, you feel better, regardless of what is going on "out there".
